The Unthinkable

In case you haven't figured it out yet, I am a home grown Fort Worth, Texan. True blue, born and bred, full blooded gal from Foat Wuth... Ya'll should also know that I am very proud of this fact. I do have a horrific southern drawl (but only if I want to or don't think before I speak) and it doesn't take anyone long to figure out where I'm from. Yep, the voice gives it away and everyone knows where I hatched from.

One thing you might not know about us Foat Wuthers, we don't do Dallas. Going to Dallas is a like a road trip, you have to pack your bags and drive across the river. There's traffic and too many people and they aren't laid back like we are over on this side of the river. I mean it takes like 30 minutes to an HOUR to get over there - geesh!

I do have some relatives from Dallas, they are kind of uppity (and I secretly love them, don't tell anyone around here though). My little sister moved to one of those Dallas suburbs up north and I refuse to visit her even though she has those two babies that I just adore. And at least once a year Hubby talks me into to going to some event over there and I begrudgingly accompany him.

I am currently in a quandary however because C2 has done the UNTHINKABLE. He is moving to Dallas. Not just Dallas, but downtown Dallas. In the heart of the entire city! My heart is broken, I am devastated, I may have to take to my bed. Actually I am so distraught I can't even talk about it any more...

When I read this entry, I hear a perfect Southern voice in my head...it's great. ;-) Don't worry--it's a youth thing--moving to the city--he'll come back eventually...we all do--if not to the same small Southern town, to another one just like it. For as much as we like to say we hate them and long for city life, the truth is we love 'em and can't really stay away long. It's a way of life.

Oh, my.. how could he? He could at least have made it Irving or Las Colinas or something in between.. you didn't raise that boy right!! There's definitely somethin' wrong with him!!LOL Well, you obviously CAN'T go over there to visit..He'll just have to come to his senses. Oh, my God, he might even marry a girl from over there!!! That'll put you in your bed, huh? My sympathies are with you..

Was born in Lewisville, my sister now lives in Wylie. I get lost EVERY DAMN time I try to drive in that area! And that's WITH the GPS thing! You do need to pack emergency supplies when you drive in that area, 'cause you never know when you'll make it where you're going! I say get in bed, 'cause bed is ALWAYS good! I'm a big fan!

Sounds like your son needs to know momma will have a bad case of the vapors if he does this...guilt might work...

Oh, dear.
After all you've done for him!
Maybe you can adopt a replacement?

Well isn't that just like a kid to break his Momma's heart like that! Perhaps instead of taking to your bed you should break out some nice vino to "take the edge off" your distress. Just a thought. So....if I do make it to Dallas, you won't come see me?? Just wondering here.

Did you threaten to kick him out of the will yet? That works with lots of Texan boys, I hear.

Jenn is right, he'll be back!!! We all have to leave the nest at some point to truly appreciate it.

That's how we are in MSP too. You are either from Minneapolis or St. Paul. The river divides the two and I'm pretty sure when you buy a car they ask which city you drive in and then your car has a switch thingy that forces it to stall out before you cross that bridge! So I totally get...crossing over the river into the dark side is enough to break a momma's heart!

Uh Oh! That is a very big NO NO in the "R" family. What is wrong with him? You are going to have to lay down some serious law on this boys tuckus! The down town part of the city. Nothing to do there but drink and pick up hookers. The wonder I get into trouble in Dallas! Hmph! Give me the stockyards anyday! I will send you some Vodka. Your going to need it! LOL!
