Lost and Found

I may have mentioned before that I am a tidbit anal about organization. If you saw my office or even my closet you might have reason to disagree with me. Even though these two places may appear in complete disarray, I know where everything is or I can find it relatively quickly. The real point being is I have never LOST anything of importance.

I have never lost my driver's license, my social security card, wallet, credit card, keys, birth certificate or ANY other important document. My true anal personality doesn't even allow this to happen. I put everything important to me in the same place all the time.

When I pay for an item, I hold my wallet in my hand until my change or my credit card is put back into the wallet and put the wallet in my purse. When I come home from, well anywhere, I place my purse in the same spot every single time. When I unlock my car, my office or the front door of my home my keys go directly back into my purse. Thus, I have never lost my keys nor have I ever locked them in my car. As in N.E.V.E.R!

Now my children and my husband are a complete different story. They have lost all of these items, not once, not twice, but a countless number of times. They have had to get a new driver's license at least twice a year. They have had to cancel bank accounts and credit cards too many times to count. And they have paid the equivalent of the national debt of some small nations ANNUALLY in locksmith fees. WHY?

How hard is it really to keep up with this stuff? How hard is it to put things in the same spot in order to always know where it is? And WHY is it MY problem or MY fault when these things happen time and time again? Honestly on some days if my husband wasn't asking where something was that he couldn't find, we probably wouldn't even speak to each other. Is this all my fault? Am I the enabler because I either FIND the missing stuff or arrange for the new one to appear?

Sometimes I wish that they would lose me and never find me again...

yeah but they replace everything the loose- if they lost you, who'd come in in your place?

maybe you should buy them each a "man bag" so then they would have a purse to put their things in so they don't lose them!

@Connie - nobody would be stupid enough to come in my place ;)

I guess that's what happens when you are the only female in a household of males. And we KNOW that most of them could not find their own butts if we didn't point them out. Poor Kat!! At least I only have to deal with 1 male. I don't know where my sanity would reside if I had to deal with 4!!

Yes, you are an enabler. BUT that's your job since you're the momma/wife.

I don't get people who lose things, either. Somehow I manage to keep track of my crap, too.

You forgot to mention that one of your children didn't lose his key's but his ENTIRE CAR!!!!

You do the best you can, but there is no accounting for lack of responsibility!

I get the same thing from my hubby, have you seen? OMG that drives me up the wall, like you I put my stuff where it belongs and it's always there.

That drives me nuts too! Pull your head out of your A$$ and keep track of it yourself!
